A new water sport arrives on the scene very rarely, perhaps once in a generation. Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP), a sport that has roots that some have traced back to ancient civilizations and incorporates elements from kayaking, canoeing , surfing , and other boardsports, has been around in modern form for less than two decades but is having a transformational effect on the recreational landscape.
At Pumped Up SUP, we are pleased to announce the Stand Up Paddleboarding in Society Scholarship to help promote higher education and Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) across the USA and Canada. The winner of this scholarship will receive $500 to put towards their educational expenses, along with a letter of recognition.

To apply for the scholarship, you should submit an original thought-provoking essay of at least 1000 words on one of the following topics:
Option 1: What are the true historic precursors to stand up paddle boarding?
Option 2: How has the introduction of stand up paddle boarding transformed the recreational landscape and what might the future hold for it?
Option 3: What are the most important technical advancements that have make modern stand up paddle boarding possible and how can new technologies be applied to advance the sport?
We encourage you to select the topic that is most closely related to your area of studies, be it Liberal Arts, Science, Engineering, or Outdoor Education.
Once you complete the essay, submit it to us as a .doc or .docx attachment to the email email@example.com. Please include “Stand Up Paddleboarding Scholarship" in the subject line.

The essay submitted by you will become the property of Pumped Up SUP and may be published on our website or on any other media in original or modified form. The winner will be contacted via email and have their name announced on the website.
All essays must be submitted by December 1st, 2018. The winner will be announced on December 15th, 2018. If the winner does not contact us within seven days, a new winner will be chosen.
